Summary of Allegations:

The Regina Police Service received a Confidential Informant tip indicating that an individual was trafficking large quantities of controlled substances in Regina, SK. This individual was purported to use short term rentals like Airbnb and multiple other individuals and vehicles to traffic substances.

X.X. was targeted during the course of the investigation. Over the course of a number of days, the RPS followed X.X. and conducted mobile surveillance, gathering evidence in support of an application to get a warrant.

The RPS applied for and were granted a warrant for a GPS device so that they could better observe the vehicles that X.X. operated.

Using the assistance of the tracking device, the RPS observed X.X. coming and going from a hotel room over a period of multiple days. The RPS applied for and obtained a warrant to search vehicles and the hotel room. A hotel room is treated similarly to a home; a warrant is typically needed to conduct a search.

In the execution of the warrants, the RPS seized over 200 grams of cocaine and 100 grams of fentanyl. A sentence for offences of this nature, even for a first-time offender, would likely be in excess of 9 years of incarceration, with a risk of a double-digit sentence.

Fortunately for X.X., Sean Fagan was successful at beating all charges, sparing X.X. a lengthy period of incarceration and a criminal record.
